VOLUNTEER at NHE/Oak View

Volunteers run all of the NHE/Oak View activities and programs! We have many volunteer opportunities that take place throughout the school year, during the day, in the evening, or on the weekend! Please contact a Officer, for more information on how you can volunteer at NHE/Oak View. When volunteering at NHE/Oak View ES, please make sure to show your ID to any of the front office staff who will then provide you with an ID sticker to wear while you are at school. Your volunteer hours should be logged into the binder on the small bookcase just as you walk into the front office. If you have any questions about what to do, please ask an office staff member.

NOTE: All volunteers this year must complete online Child Abuse Training before you can volunteer. You can complete the training online or at the school.

Some examples of volunteer opportunities include:

  • Helping out during the day at one of our Scholastic Book Fairs or Used Book Sale
  • Volunteering at one of our family fun nights (Community Picnic, Bingo Night, Movie Night, etc.)
  • Baking goodies (Back to School Breakfast, Election Day Bake Sale, or Staff Appreciation Week which is usually the first week of May)
  • Helping plan big school events/activities (Restaurant Nights, Bingo Night, End of Year Picnic, Ice Cream Social, etc.)
  • Recruiting donations for staff appreciation events, raffle prizes, etc.
  • Helping to translate PTA flyers or making copies of flyers that need to be distributed school wide
  • Attending county or statewide advocacy meetings to help advocate for our school

ADVOCATE for Our Schools

Are you ready to take your concerns about school to the next level? Parents and school staff are the school’s most important advocates. If you are ready to speak up to the MCPS Board of Education, Montgomery County, the state of Maryland, or even our national legislators, please let us know. Also, contact us if you would like to be an NHE/OV PTA delegate to the Montgomery County Council of PTAs (MCCPTA) to learn more about their advocacy work. Another advocacy opportunity at NHE/OV PTA is the Blair Cluster Representative position (this representative attends meetings that affect all schools in the Blair Cluster). Please contact the PTA President if you have specific advocacy skills that you can use to help us speak up for our school (in the areas of local, statewide, or national legislation or in outreach to media).

SUPPORT NHE/Oak View thru Amazon Smile

When shopping at Amazon.com, use the link in the right sidebar of the NHE/OV PTA website or the link below. For each item purchased at Smile.Amazon.com through the link, NHE/OV PTA will receive a portion of the purchase. Read more.

What is my organization’s unique link?
http://smile.amazon.com/ch/52-1791655

What does my unique link do?
When customers click on your organization’s unique link, they skip the process to search for a charity to support among over 1 million eligible charities. Instead, they’re taken to smile.amazon.com and are automatically asked if they want to support New Hampshire-Oakview Elem Sch PTA.

Can I just tell supporters to search for my charity at smile.amazon.com?
Yes. However, that makes it harder for your supporters to find and select your organization. There are over 1 million eligible charities, and customers may end up picking a different organization during the selection process. Sharing your charity link increases the likelihood that customers will select your charity before they start shopping.

Do my supporters have to click on my charity’s AmazonSmile link every time they shop?
No. Once customers select your organization, you will receive 0.5% of the price of all their eligible smile.amazon.com purchases, regardless of whether they use your unique AmazonSmile link to return to the site. However, we recommend that you ask your supporters to bookmark and use your link so they don’t accidentally shop at www.amazon.com instead of smile.amazon.com. Only purchases made at smile.amazon.com are eligible for donations.
